The judges for the 2025 National Book Awards will select 50 Longlist titles, ten per category, to be announced mid-September, and 25 Finalists to be announced on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 In May 1936, the first National Book Awards were presented at the annual convention of the American Booksellers Association, a month after the New York Times reported the establishment of a "new annual award." The National Book Foundation, or NBF, will bring the award-winning writer Claire Wahmanholm to campus on March 31 for a free event, "Eco-Poetics and the Modern Apocalypse." The event is part of an NBF tour with 16 events across 10 cities, and marks the first time UCR has been selected to host a National Book Award, or NBA, event.
